I know I'm not the only person for whom 2015 kind of sucked. It wasn't all bad, but looking back across its breadth I see a year of dental work and family illness and friends in pain and hard goodbyes, both literal and figurative, to people and to data and to imagined possibilities.
2015 was not my favorite year. But it was a year that reminded me that big changes can pave the way for big new possibilities – new relationships, stronger friendships, healthier teeth. It reminded me that adversity – personal, physical, spiritual, in your career, in your family, in your head – can be a refining fire. It's a bit of wisdom that, even in my few decades of privileged life, I have learned many times over. Let the pain be felt, and then rise out of it with new facets to your soul, new wisdom from the lessons you've learned. You are a richer, more complex you. You, refined.
May 2016 be a year of possibility. Enter it glowing, ready to show off all your newfound facets.
